Have you ever heard of OLPC? Yes, you heard it right. Its One Laptop Per Child program we are talking about. OLPC is a U.S. Non Profit Organization whose main aim is to provide excellent educational facilities to the developing nation. Their aim as stated in OLPC website is “To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning”. So, it’s not about the laptops we are talking about; it’s the educational policy itself.

MIT media centre people first brought in this brilliant concept into the lime-light. With this concept, cheaper laptops with low configuration were made which help poor people in the developing countries to have a taste of today’s technology and get their fundamentals right. By this way, people may have an opportunity to touch, experience, explore and express their views. By giving them access to trendy knowledge and educational values, it is possible to instill encouragement in them and also possible to bring them forward to educate them and to educate their children. More and more such laptops are being sent to the government of developing countries to distribute among the poor people so that they get benefited and make this world an excellent place to live in.
